The last time the Weyburn Red Wings were in town, the Terriers struck hard, and soundly defeated the Weyburn squad. That lightning didn't strike twice, with the Red Wings defeating the Terriers 4-1 in their most recent contest.
Weyburn began the scoring early, with Shawn Cowie getting the first goal 1:31 in to the first period. Rodney Cowie and Dylan Coupal got the assist. Later in the first the Red Wings scored their second goal, with Brock Appleyard putting in a shorthanded goal, with help from Drew George.
The Terriers attempted to come back in the second with a power play goal by Zak Majkowski, which put the score at 2-1. Brent Struble and Rylan McDonell were credited with the assist.
However, the Red Wings shut down the Terriers completely, and put in another two in the third period. Cole Klippenstein put in the first goal, with Scott Kirkham and Lucas Ulmer assisting. Finally, Drew George put one in an empty net, assisted by Brock Appleyard and Tanner McCall. In a reversal from the first time the Red Wings were in town, the Terriers were on the losing side of the scoreboard.
The Red Wings played aggressively through the match, collecting 12 penalty minutes, with Rhys Thomas accounting for eight of those minutes overall.
The next Terriers home game will be October 16 when LaRonge is in town. Game starts at 7:30 p.m.
