SaskCanola is presenting the very first Rider Priders versus Yorkton Minor Football (YMF) Hockey Challenge and it's slated to take place right here in Yorkton.
Saskatchewan Roughrider players, coaches and officials will take on the YMF coaches as well as local celebreties in a hockey game at the Kinsmen Arena, Saturday January 21.
Currently Weston Dressler, Jason Clermont, Nick Hutchins and Neal Hughes have confirmed their participation. They will be joined by teammates and coaches.
The schedule of events will be:
5-6 p.m. Autograph session with Riders in the lobby; 7-7:15 p.m. warm-up session; 7:25 p.m. Introductions; 7:30 p.m. Ceremonial puck drop with Sask-Canola Board Chair and Yorkton mayor James Wilson; 7:35 Game on!
Halftime - Shoot to win contest and Rider relay race with a football in place of a baton
Second half, 30 minutes running time
9 p.m. Photo session following the end of the game.
Tickets, at $5 per person, are available at Farrell Agencies, York-Sask Drycleaners and Herbal Magic.
Beef on a bun and beverages will be available in the Blue Room.
All proceeds from the event will be directed to the construction of new washrooms/ change facilities at Kinsmen Century Field.
