RCMP in the city were investigating two similar robberies that occurred in the Yorkton over the past couple of weeks and earlier this week they announced a suspect has been apprehended.
The Yorkton Municipal RCMP and the Yorkton GIS unit have arrested and currently have a male in custody in connection with the armed robberies and a theft of an auto in the Yorkton area in early April.
During both robberies the suspect was armed with a knife and in both instances he made away with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. Nobody was harmed during either incident. Following the second robbery the suspect fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.
Charged in these incidents is Murray Clarence Tichborne of Winnipeg. He is charged with 15 counts under the criminal code in connection and was to appear in Provincial Court on Monday. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
