Sacred Heart High School has won the award for the best student newspaper in Saskatchewan.
According to Colin Keys, president of the Saskatchewan Teacher's Federation, the paper was singled out for the quality of its editing, as well as the fact that it is a bilingual paper, a rarity in the province.
Michaela Adam, editor of the paper, says that writing it is important to her, and putting together the best student paper in the province shows that she is doing her job well.
This is the third year in a row, and eleventh year overall, that the paper has won an award. Adam says that it was important for her to maintain the paper's legacy, and it puts pressure on her to keep it high quality and continue the streak.
She says it also reflects on the quality of her education as a whole, since what she has learned in school has been an important part of editing the school paper.
Adam is currently in Grade 12, and plans to study towards becoming an Ultrasound Technician. She says that she hopes to continue writing in the future as well.
