The Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) junior boys recently hosted the Melville Junior Cobras in an exhibition basketball game at the Halo Dome.
After getting over the initial opening jitters, the Junior Saints settled down to claim a 30-20 win, reports coach Brent Guenther. "The other coach and I thought we were in the middle of a hockey game because the score was so low but then we got the Turkey brain out of the way and started to do what we were supposed to do we started to get going a little bit better," says Guenther.
The SHHS juniors have become more confident as individuals and as a team. Their skills and aggressiveness are improving.
Team goals are to improve the team in terms of building skills, learning game strategy and prepare the players to move up to the senior team. The ultimate goal this season would be to reclaim the district championship.
