Sacred Heart girls soccer team competed in Prince Albert over the weekend. The girls for a second week in a row were B side Champions.
The Saints lost their first game to Weyburn Eagles 2-0. The game was very even. The Eagles capitalized on two defensive errors made by the Saints.
In the second game the Saints found their A game. Raquel Hackman recorded her 6th shut out of the season, Rita Fetsch scored five goals on their way to a rout of Se Se Wa Hum 11-0. Singles were added by Jenna Sahulka, Connor Rosluk, Hailey Richards, Brooke Mentanko, and Emily Kruger.
The Saints continued their strong play in the B side Final defeating Prince Albert Carlton 3-0. Fetsch led the way with two more goals. Kaylee Ford scored a single on a beautiful top left corner?shot from the right wing. Hackman had another solid performance and added another shut out to make it seven for the season.
"I'm happy with the way the team came back in the last two games of the tournament," Coach Jeanne Fetsch emphasizes.
One of the pleasant surprises of the year thus far has been Rita Fetsch. Rita has scored 26 goals in 14 games played this season. She is also the set up player many times for her team mates.
Fetsch also highlights some great efforts by other Saints players.
"I'm really pleased with the midfield play of Hailey Richards, Jenna Sahulka, Jacey Hull, and Emily Kruger. All four of the girls are playing hard and trying to improve every time out on the field. They are listening carefully to Coaches instructions and doing their best to put them into practice," she outlines.
With several important games left to go, Fetsch vows that the team will working on execution of set plays and quality finishes at the net.
Sacred Heart's next action will be this Thursday in Lemberg and then they will host Regionals on Oct. 22 and 23 at Sacred Heart.
