Sask. families nothing short of the truth

It's budget time in our province and let me be clear, for the official Opposition and Saskatchewan people, nothing short of books you can trust will be acceptable.

We all know the poor track record of this government when it comes to its bookkeeping. This government was the first government in all of Saskatchewan's history to fail an audit. In fact, it was the first government in all of Canada to fail an audit, and it failed because of a new accounting scheme created by this government that hides debt and artificially lowers expenditures.

I put forward motions calling on the government to rectify the failed audit to ensure that our province's finances are prepared and presented in a manner that is deemed honest, reliable and trustworthy by the independent Provincial Auditor. Shamefully, the government stubbornly shot those motions down.

Saskatchewan families deserve better. They deserve nothing short of the truth, and honest books they can trust and count on. That's what we'll keep pushing for.
