Five members of the Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) cross country team attended provincials in Middle Lake, Saskatchewan Saturday. Team members included Brooke Mentanko, Emily Kruger, Rita Fetsch, Dakota Chippley-Mitchell and Brooke Morgan.
Coming off gold medals at districts in Melville Thursday, were Brooke Mentanko in the senior girls division and Rita Fetsch in the junior girls division.
Both girls ran well at the provincial meet where Mentanko placed fifth overall behind four strong Regina and Saskatoon runners out of a field of 110 senior girls.
Fetsch finished just out of medal position in fourth place out of a field of 75 runners.
In addition the Sacred Heart team placed fourth overall in the 3A school size category.
Coach Rachel Sterzuk says, "All of the team ran well on Saturday. I was especially pleased with how well Rita Fetsch and Brooke Mentanko ran against some very strong girls in their age classes."
