THE SHHS SEPTEMBER ATHLETES OF THE MONTH, Dylan Johnson (l) and Rita Fetsch (r), are congratulated on the recognition they received by Aaron Kienle, CAB Clothing sponsor.

The Sacred Heart High School (SHHS)/CAB Clothing September Male Athlete of the Month, Dylan Johnson, is a member of the Senior Saints Football team where he plays on both offensive line and defensive line.

His aggressive play on defense has put him among the team's tackle leaders. He has also intercepted a pass for a touchdown, a rare feat for a defensive lineman.

Johnson is also a strong offensive player who, as the year progressed was given more and more responsibility, from blocker to pass receiver and even running the ball out of the backfield.

He picks up the plan quickly and is always willing to help out the younger players.

Johnson has become a leader this year. He demands team mates follow his example of hard work and full effort with his no plays off attitude.

He truly embodies the spirit of Saints football, hard nosed and aggressive.

The SHHS/CAB Clothing Female Athlete of the Month for September, Rita Fetsch, is a very busy multi-sport athlete. She is a member of the Sacred Heart cross country team and soccer team.

In cross country Fetsch won gold at the Saltcoats Autumn Summit. She won a district gold medal in Melville and at provincials, out of 74 racers, she just missed out on a provincial medal finishing in fourth place.

All her coaches say she never misses a practise or game and she always has a cheerful and positive attitude no matter how hard the practise is. She is one who helps out at every practice making sure all the equipment is put away before she will leave the field

Fetsch plays striker on the Saints girls' soccer team. In 16 soccer matches this fall she has scored an amazing 39 times, accounting for half of her team's scoring. She has also been the set up player assisting 12 on goals times. Of the 78 goals the team has scored this season, Fetsch has had a part in 51 of them.
