Sometimes pets seem to be able to communicate

Occasionally it seems there's a bond formed between people. And, in some cases a similar bond seems to form between animals as well as animals and owners. Recently, one such story was related to me during an interview for a sports related story.

Occasionally it seems there's a bond formed between people. And, in some cases a similar bond seems to form between animals as well as animals and owners. Recently, one such story was related to me during an interview for a sports related story. I'll share it with you. See what you think.

Early this spring, a local well-known standardbred owner bought a new horse for his stable. The new animal arrived as part of a group of four horses brought in from Vancouver.

The owner and his wife went to the Yorkton Exhibition barns late one evening to look at their new arrival. They were accompanied by their cream colored standard Poodle, Regis.

Now Regis had just completed a winter of chemotherapy for cancer. A family favorite pet, he accompanied his master and mistress almost everywhere.

That particular evening at the barn, rather than stay with his owners, Regis ran off to the other end of the building. He was later found sitting in front of one of the other new horses. The pair seemed to be chatting in their own way. This 'communication' carried on for several evenings as the couple in question were hands-on owners who often tended their own horses.

They were approached by Terry Kaufman who had brought in the four new horses from Vancouver one evening and informed that the people who had originally ordered the new horse, which had established a bond with Regis, decided against taking delivery of him. Kaufman offered the horse to the couple.

Without considering the matter very long, they bought the new horse because they surmised, "Regis was telling us, 'you buy this horse'."

Shortly after they acquired the new horse, Regis passed away.

The owners, Max and Debra McInnes mourned his passing but were pleased they'd bought the horse partly as a gift for their god child, Samantha Tamblyn. The horse that had connected with Regis was none other than Sophio Hanover who was named Sask. Standardbred Horse Association (SSHA) Horse of the Year at the recent SSHA annual awards banquet.

Coincidence, you think? Or is there some other inexplicable phenomenon at work here?
