November 16-21 is recognized as Bullying Awareness Week across the country. This year's theme is "Stand Up!" and encourages youth to speak out against bullying.
"Each and every student deserves to feel safe and accepted in their school communities," Education Minister Don Morgan said. "We will continue working with our partners, communities, educators and most importantly, our students, to ensure that we address the issue of bullying and provide the supports and resources that students need."
Through a partnership with SaskTel and the "I Am Stronger" website, the ministry is also providing students, educators and families with access to anti-bullying resources, an anonymous online reporting tool and the opportunity to be engaged in building a caring and respectful online community. When students participate in this online community through the website, they become eligible to apply for grants to support their local anti-bullying efforts.
