Octoberfest Golf Scramble The Deer Park Municipal Golf Course will host the 2011 Ironman Octoberfest Scramble Saturday, October 1 with a 12 p.m. shotgun start. In the scramble the golf course is played from the toughest pins and tees.

The Deer Park Municipal Golf Course will host the 2011 Ironman Octoberfest Scramble Saturday, October 1 with a 12 p.m. shotgun start.

In the scramble the golf course is played from the toughest pins and tees.

Enter as a men's, ladies, or mixed team. Each team must have a total team handicap of 30.

The event offers fun, prizes and an octoberfest supper.

The entry fee is $35 for members and $35 plus green fees for non members.

Public Skating

Public skating is offered at the Kinsmen Arena Sunday nights from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. starting October 16.

Pre-school and seniors skate Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. beginning October 11.

All programs are free of charge.

Tailgating Time

Yorkton Minor Football will host a hot dog barbecue, tailgate party and autograph signing at the Yorkton Co-op Food Store 30 Argyle Street Tuesday, October 4 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sask.

Roughriders Hugh Charles and Brandon West will be on hand to sign autographs from 4 to 6 p.m.

Anyone purchasing a hot dog will have their name entered for a draw for a Charles or West football jersey.

In addition to hot dogs, the event will offer draws and giveaways of Roughrider items, as well as team mementos for sale. Proceeds of the hot dog sale will go to Yorkton Minor Football.

In addition the Yorkton Co-op will donate $500 to the Children's Health Foundation.

Autumn Summit

Saltcoats School will host the 27th annual Autumn Summit cross country race meet at Saltcoats Regional Park Friday, September 30.

Opening remarks will begin at 10:15 a.m. with racing to start at 11:15 a.m. with the last race of the day leaving the starting line at 2:05 p.m.

This year the meet features about 1,000 runners from 45 schools in Grades 3 to 12.

A canteen is available, selling hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks and both hot and cold beverages.

Admission is free and everyone is invited to come out and cheer on the athletes.
