The Saints Senior Boys Volleyball team competed at Melville's tournament on October 18-19. In the round robin matches the Saints team defeated Churchbridge and Kamsack in two straight sets. The team then played Melville (MCS), but came up short taking their first loss.
On Saturday, Sacred took on Esterhazy first. The team played a strong first set and tied up the score at 20 all. Esterhazy came out with some strong serving and defeated the Saints 21-25 and took the momentum winning the second set 14-25. The last match was against Lipton where the team easily controlled the first set winning 25-12. The rookies took over the second set and held on to win 25-21. Sacred placed 3rd in the round robin taking them to face off against MCS once again in the semi-final match. Sacred Heart fought hard, but could not get the ball rolling in their favour losing 18-25 and 12-25.
The team placed 3rd respectfully in the tournament and now look forward to their next tournament on October 25-26 in Esterhazy. "The team has made huge strides from the beginning of the year as we started with a young team. Kade Johnson has improved his setting for the team, while Jonah Sutter has really got his timing on his middle hits.
Sam Lohnes has improved his speed at the net shutting down the opposition with his blocks. Captain Jaedon Pellatt and Riley Kerr lead the team in kill shots at the net with their strong hitting. Key passers Mackenzie Biblow and Bryan Buzinski have contributed to setting up many plays" says coach Curtis Moen.
