The Yorkton Junior Raiders hosted the Regina Stampeders at Kinsmen Century Field Saturday afternoon. The Junior Raiders suffered their first loss at home.

With the Stampeders leading 14-0 on the last play of the first half, the Junior Raiders ran the Regina kickoff back to the end zone with a 65 yard run for a touchdown the pull Yorkton within a converted touchdown of Regina.

The Junior Raiders added a second touchdown to make the final score in the game 35-12 in favor of the Regina Stampeders.

Junior Raiders head coach Lance Stillborn says the loss was a tough one resulting from a lot of mental errors.

Missed tackles cost the Raiders dearly as Regina managed to run the ball against the Yorkton defense.

Stillborn admits the Junior Raiders didn't pass the ball well in the game. "We probably should have tried to keep it on the ground a little more, but it's easy to say after a loss," he says.

Junior Raiders offensive lineman Matthew Moore suffered a knee injury near the end of the game. "It's something we don't like to see, but he'll be back, suggests Stillborn.

Next week the Junior Raiders take on the undefeated Regina Mounties. "I understand they're over rated so hopefully we'll go in and put that to an end, Stillborn says.

The Junior Raiders are currently in the playoff hunt, the final position in the standings will be determined after the next game.
