They're at it again. Teachers from the teacher's Professional A's hockey team staged the 26th annual student vs. teachers benefit hockey game at the Gallagher Centre Farrell Agencies Arena.

The annual game pits the teacher team against a team of students from the two local high schools, Sacred Heart High School and Yorkton Regional High School.

Co-coordinator of the game Jaret Zelionka reports that each year students are given tickets to the game to sell. The student team was made up of student hockey players who sold the most tickets to the game.

As well each year the teachers set up a selection committee which determines where the proceeds of the event will be directed, Zelionka explains.

This year money raised by the event will go to the family of William and Gavin Eason, students at M.C. Knoll School who are battling cycstic fibrosis, Zelionka reports.

In addition to the student-teacher game, the first intermission will feature a couple of Yorkton Minor Hockey Initiation Program teams scrimaging.

The second intermission will have the Great Elementary Shootout in which young hockey players from all the local elementary schools be going one-on-one against an elementary school goalie.

The winning school team will be the one that scores the most goals while the winning goalie will be the one who stops the most shots on goal.

Zelionka thanks all those who helped to organize and run the annual benefit game. He also appreciates all the assistance of the businesses who donated prizes which helped to make the event a success.

The Yorkton firefighters were also on hand to present the Eason family with a cheque for $500 to help with expenses incurred while seeking medical treatment for the boys.
