Meadow Lake has been proclaimed the host city for the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games.

The Tri-Party Agreement, which clarifies the roles and responsibilities of the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games partners and formalizes their financial arrangements, will be signed at the media conference.

Susan Schneider, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Games Council along with Glen Winkler and Brian Gislason, Chair-persons of the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games Host Committee and Mayor Darwin Obrigewitsch will be participating in the signing of the agreement.

With the Tri-Party Agreement signed, the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games Host Committee can now focus on recruiting the 1500 plus volunteers needed to stage the Games from July 29th to August 4th 2012.

Susan Schneider will be presenting a cheque for $343,000 to the host committee. This represents the Saskatchewan Games Council's commitment to the games funded through lottery proceeds.

Since 1972 the games have been held every two years alternation between summer and winter sports. Amateur athletes compete in athletics to triathlon. Also included are events for Special Olympic athletes.

The Summer Games provide a wonderful opportunity for the youth of this province to showcase their athletic ability and talent. Sporting events are just one of the many ways we can support our youth and the hard work it takes to be an athlete.

More than 2,000 athletes, coaches, managers and officials will participate in the games next summer.
