Sunrise seeks local input

The Sunrise Health Region is advancing the philosophy of client and family centred care and inviting clients and family members to participate.

"We want to hear from clients, and the families of clients, to learn from their experience," says Vice President of Health Services, Roberta Wiwcharuk. "What is important to the client and the people who support the client needs to be heard, understood and is central to everything we do as a health region."

The health region is asking for people to help evaluate programs and services, contribute to client and family resources, assist the region to advance quality and safety initiatives, and help improve communication between clients, families, staff and physicians. Information pamphlets are located in all waiting rooms in the health region during the month of November and information can be found in the "About Us" section of the Sunrise Health Region website.

"This call for expression of interest is just the start of our client and family centred journey," adds Wiwcharuk.

"The health region will invite participation in our future initiatives as our clients are equipped to tell us what they need, what is working well and what should be improved."

Individuals interested in participating or wanting more information can contact Sunrise Health Region representatives Jeanie Werner or Lisa Alspach at (306) 786-0735 or toll free, 1-800-505-9220.

A "client" is defined by the health region as a person who experiences services provided by Sunrise Health Region. Other common terms for client include patient and resident. A "family" is defined by the client and includes the people who support the client, a group of individuals who are connected by kinship, affection, dependency or trust.
