There was another potential victim but RCMP have since apprehended a suspect. Members from the Yorkton Municipal Detachment along with the Yorkton District General Investigation Section continue to investigate the attempted abductions that have been reported in the city. In each of the reports to police, a lone male suspect has approached a lone female as they were out walking within the city.

On April 5 RCMP received another complaint, this time from a 28 year old female who reported to police that a lone male in a dark four door truck approached her at approximately 2:00 p.m. and allegedly offered her money to come with him. The female, who was a pedestrian, recorded the licence plate and reported it to the RCMP.

In the early evening of April 5, RCMP arrested a 23 year old male in relation to the incident. Curtis Pawliw, aged 23, from Yorkton, has been charged with the following two Criminal Code charges: Solicitation - In relation to the incident described above on April 5, and Assault - In relation to the incident alleged to have occurred on March 19.

Pawliw was released from custody and his next scheduled court date is May 30 at 9:30 a.m. at the Yorkton Court House.

RCMP continue to investigate all of the occurrences and as a public safety warning, they are urging that young women protect themselves when walking alone in the city and ensure that they have safety in numbers.

They recommend carrying a cell phone and being aware of your surroundings at all times.
