Terriers defeat Mustangs

Despite being outshot 33-27 by the Melfort Mustangs, the Yorkton Terriers, playing in the annual SJHL Showcase in Weyburn Saturday night, downed the Mustangs 3-1.

Brenden Poncelet struck first for the Terriers with a short handed goal midway through the opening frame assisted by Brent Struble.

Breitkreuz added Yorkton second marker late in the period assisted by Robbie Ciolfi and Struble.

Bo Lenard notched Melfort's lone goal in the first half of the second period.

Davis Vandane capped Terrier scoring with a powerplay goal late in the second period assisted by Breitkreuz and Ciolfi.

Sunday, the Terriers squeaked out a close 2-1 win over the Flin Flon Bombers.

Craig Eisenhut put the Terriers on the board in the first period assisted by Sam Rockwell and Troy Dumais.

Following a hard fought scoreless second period, Andrew Johnston tied the game for Flin Flon with a powerplay goal early in the third period.

Breitkreuz knocked in the game winner, a singlehanded goal to clinch the 2-1 win for the Terriers.
