It was a little too close for comfort but a win, nonetheless, for the Terriers - who defeated Humboldt 3-2 on Tuesday night to extend their lead at the top of the Sherwood Conference.
Nathan Murray got the scoring started for Yorkton, to the delight of the home crowd.
Murray's shot from the top of the circle, on the powerplay, beat Broncos goalie Andrew Bodnarchuk to secure a 1-0 Terrier lead.
Craig Eisenhut would add to the total in the second period with his second of the season at 17:25. Robbie Ciolfi continued his hot streak with an assist on the goal.
The contest looked to be over with when Kyle McLeod beat Bodnarchuk just over two minutes later to give Yorkton a 3-0 advantage.
However, the Broncos came out flying to start the third period.
Justin Buzzeo and Riley Gillies took a huge bite into the three-goal deficit with markers just 15 seconds apart to make it 3-2 - with 19 minutes still remaining in the game.
Fortunately for the Terriers, Devin Peters shut the door after that.
Peters made 32 saves in a winning effort while Bodnarchuk had 22 stops.
Despite a decided shot advantage, it was the Terriers who came away with the night's only powerplay goal. Humboldt went scoreless on their three opportunities with the man advantage.
Kyle McLeod was named the game's first star while Peters' solid effort earned him star number two. Humboldt's Riley Gillies rounded out the selections with third star honours.
The Terriers next home game will be October 12 when Weyburn comes to town.
The game will get under way at 7:30 p.m. at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
