The Yorkton Terriers seem to have shaken off their home losing streak with wins on the road. Following their win over the Nipawin Hawks the Terriers went on to take both games of a two game series over the Ice Wolves at LaRonge.
Saturday night the Terriers, backstopped by netminder Devin Peters who turned aside 31 of 33 shots on goal, outshot the Ice Wolves 445-33 on the way to a 4-2 win at the Mel Hegland Arena.
Dayton Fossum opened game scoring for LaRonge a little over one minute into the second period with a powerplay goal.
Riley Paterson evened things up with a powerplay marker midway through the period assisted by Brennen Tutt.
Sam Prpich notched the go-ahead goal for Yorkton a minute later assisted by Brenden Poncelet and Justin Lamontagne.
Zane Morin tied the game midway through the third before Blaine Tendler notched what proved to be the game winner, a powerplay marker, for the Terriers assisted by Keon Vick and Robbie Ciolfi.
With less than a minute in regulation time, Brent Struble added the insurance marker, assisted by Clarke Breitkreuz, for the win.
Following a scoreless overtime, the Yorkton Terriers managed a 2-1 shootout win over the Ice Wolves Sunday afternoon in a hard fought, low scoring contest.
Nathan Boyer lit up the scoreboard for LaRonge early in the first period.
Breitkreuz managed to tie the game at one midway through the second frame.
Both teams battled through a scoreless third period and a scoreless five minute overtime.
Of Yorkton's five shooters, Breitkreuz and Craig Eisenhut each slipped the puck by Ice Wolves goalie Adam Bartko. Logan Herauf was the lone shooter to score for LaRonge to hand the Terriers their third consecutive win on the road.
The Weyburn Red Wings prevented a Terrier road series streak with a 4-2 win over Yorkton at Crescent Point Place Tuesday night.
Terrier marksmen were Blaine Tendler and Myles Cameron while Ciolfi and Vick added to their stats with assists.
Blake Kirkham scored twice while Cole Klippenstein, and Rodney Cowie each added a single on the way to the win.
The wins leave the Terriers in first place in the Sherwood Conference with 25 points.
