Aviva Canada Inc. announced the semi-finalist ideas for this year's Aviva Community Fund online contest, a unique competition that seeks to lead, empower and support positive change in Canadian communities. Yorkton's proposal is on the list!

Canadians have submitted over 1,500 ideas and cast over one and a half million votes for projects and worthy causes that will improve communities across the country.

Canada has selected its semi-finalists who will vie for additional votes in hopes of making it to the final round. However, every idea can be a winner. Starting today, ideas with associated charities that are not moving on to the semi-finals will have their "vote now" button replaced with a "donate now" button.

Canadians are encouraging to visit the website and start voting for their favourite semi-finalist ideas at www.AvivaCommunityFund.org. The most popular entries will qualify for funding and Aviva will ensure the best ideas receive the financial and practical help they need to get off the ground.

Starting December 5, voters can support their favourite ideas until December 16, 2011. Finalists and winners will be announced December 20, 2011 and January 25, 2012, respectively.

Yorkton and area residents are urged to visit www.AvivaCommunity-Fund.org to vote for Yorkton's Skateboard, Bike and Walking Park.
