It has been a summer to remember... or not... Here's hoping that the fall will bring sun and warm autumn temperatures.
The Haas Nissan Senior Golf Tournament was held on Sept. 9. The rain started about tee-off time, but most brave souls finished 18 holes, despite rain, thunder and even a call-in siren for "lightning." Winners of the tournament were:

Men's Senior Event: 1st - Bruce Johnston, 2nd Neil Hollingsworth, 3rd Jim Thiel.

A very special thanks to the sponsors.
The Community Association Toilet Seat Tournament was held on Sept. 12 in nice golf weather. It was a team scramble and lots of fun. Winning team was Myrna Litzenberger, Gerry Holfeld, Paul Spilchen and Ivar Olsen. Following the golf, there was a pot-luck supper held at Spilchen Meadows and games of bean bag toss and shuffleboard.

Thanks to Rod Merritt of CKOS TV for prizes.
The Hamlet of Good Spirit Acres annual fall meeting was held on Sept. 26. Thanks to outgoing councilor John Neufeld for serving our community for the past three years. Incoming councilor Jim Rediger will join Don Thompson and Larry Kopan on council. Thanks to these individuals who commit many hours to the betterment of our community.
At the meeting, it was decided that the hamlet would share in the cost of rebuilding the shed that was lost in a fire in July. The plumbing has been started and cement has been poured. Plans are to get the building ready quickly so that we will be able to have our skating rink this winter.
The Hamlet Council has purchased a defibrillator for use in the community. Last month, 14 residents were given a short course in first aid, CPR and use of a defibrillator. We hope that we never have to use it, but we are now better equipped, just in case we do.
Things are winding down at the golf course. Arnie, Brad and Jeff have punched the greens, and are getting fall work started.
The restaurant, villas and motel are still available for rent for conferences and/or groups. Call 792-4615 for rates and bookings.
Golf course specials are golf nine holes with cart for $25.00 and 18 holes with cart for $40.00 per person.
From the Good Spirit Market:
Fall and Winter Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.
We are in the process of renovating our kitchen, so we should have food services available within the next couple of weeks.
We had a good summer and are looking forward to the snowmobile season.
The management and staff would like to thank everyone for their continuing support.
That's it for this month and... if you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up someone else's golf ball.
