To the Editor:
Oh, for a town that has no horrible signs of mankind's destruction no acid rain no oil spills no big global "footprint" no ugly power line grid no clear cut mountainsides no "money grubbing developer" subdivisions. No businesses or houses hanging over muddy salmon killing streams and rivers no mega greedy conglomerates no town destroying Walmart no destruction of wild life, or farm or fish PERIOD!
There is such a town. All the kids moved away because there were no jobs in the forest or on the farm. The shops closed down when they went broke. On Earth Day they were already using candles because "evil hydro" had cut off electricity.
What a beautiful place to live for us "green crowd." The Western Wilderness Committee could have headquarters there instead of the plastic and glass "footprint" Bentall Tower. We could have town council meetings in the phone booth, except - that money hungry Telus, took that away. The sign at the road, could have read "When the last person leaves, please shut off the lights."
Now the sign could read "Entering Spuzzum, BC " and "Leaving Spuzzam, BC" (all on the same sign) Of course- if we all move there at once - WALMART might hear about it - so I'm going to keep it a secret.
