On July 10, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Esterhazy RCMP were called to a rural location, approximately 3.5 km south of the community of Stockholm. The caller reported that an adult had been electrocuted in an industrial accident involving a boom lift.
Also attending the scene were members from the Stockholm Fire Department as well as Esterhazy EMS. The boom lift was being operated by two people, a 17 year old male and a 26 year old male.
Upon arrival at the scene the 26 year old male - who was from the RM of Saltcoats - was unconscious and being treated in the ambulance by paramedics.
Reports say the man had attempted to assist the injured 17 year old male who was in the basket of the boom lift.
The injured male in the boom lift, the 17 year old, was reported to have minor injuries and declined treatment. The 26 year old male was transported to Hospital in Esterhazy by EMS. SaskPower was notified and they attended to the scene and grounded the power lines.
The 26 year old male, who has been identified as Adrian Regehr from the RM of Saltcoats, was declared deceased at the hospital a short time after arriving.
The Provincial Coroner as well as Occupational Health & Safety are now conducting an investigation into this fatality.
It has also been noted that SaskPower employees and/or vehicles were not involved in the incident. They were called solely to ground the power lines.
