Young Athlete Saskatchewan (YAS), an award-winning basketball skills development school created by teachers, developed by teachers and headed by teachers for Saskatchewan youth since 1975, offers YAS basketball camps at gyms in Saskatoon and Regina throughout July and August.
Last summer 47 different communities from across the province were represented at YAS basketball camps.
This past March in Moose Jaw 42 out of the 52 teams that played in the provincial high school Hoopla championship basketball tournament had players who developed their basketball skills at YAS camps.
YAS camp and tournament instructors are certified Saskatchewan professional teachers who are also highly accomplished basketball coaches.
YAS has four age groups within the overall seven to 17 years range with sub grouping according to athletic ability, basketball experience and specific skills being taught.
Youth from across Saskatchewan who want to learn more about basketball and improve their skills are most welcome and invited even if they have never played competitive basketball before.
