YORKTON CARDINAL CENTRE FIELDER James Green was named Player of the Game in the team's home opener. The 5' 10", 185 pound outfielder from New Braunsels, Texas, is a returning WMBL veteran who played college ball at Houston-Victoria.

Green, who had a pair of hits and scored two runs in three trips to the plate, was philosophical about the Cardinals' home opener. "There are plenty of games in the season. We can take this as a learning point and just move on," he suggests.

He feels the Cardinals had plenty of opportunities to capitalize on during the game. The team needs to capitalize on those opportunities in order to win, he suggests.

He sees the Cardinals as another opportunity to make the best of his baseball skills.

A returning veteran, Green sees himself taking on a leadership role on the team. He hopes to help guide the younger players and wants to see the team develop some unity. "If you don't have team unity, you're not going too far," he states.

He sees himself as a 'spark' player whose strength is his speed. During a game, Green tries to get the team going, he says.
