The Yorkton Harvest Hockey Club's coffers just got an injection of $3,643 thanks to the generosity of Terry Ortynsky's Royal Ford. Club president Garth Simms says, "We're pleased with the fund raising opportunity that Royal Ford gave us." The local Ford dealership invited the club to participate in the "Drive one for the community" promotion. The one day promotion which had folks test drive a new Ford vehicle. Royal Ford donated $20 to the hockey club for every person who test drove a new vehicle that day.
Simms says the opportunity to pick up $3,600 is amazing because the club always has a tight budget situation. "Any money opportunity like that which comes along, especially when you can solve that big a problem in one day, is amazing," Simms declares.
In addition to the promotion by Royal Ford, Harvest Meats provided hot dogs for the complimentary barbecue, the Yorkton Co-op donated the buns and condiments, and the Yorkton Exhibition Association provided the barbecue to make the event a truly community affair. "We really had very little expense and managed to put all the money in the club's coffers," Simms closes.
Royal Ford CEO Terry Ortynsky says Royal Ford is pleased to be able to contribute to worthy community events and activities. He points to the high school magazine campaign as one of the ways the dealership gives back to a vibrant community.
The 'Drive one for the community' program offered by Ford and his dealership offers $20 for each person who test drives one of the many Ford vehicles during one of the events up to a maximum of $6,000, Ortynsky explains. It's another way Ford and Terry Ortynsky's Royal Ford support local sports and area youth.
