Yorkton Harvest head coach Graham Garrett, decidedly unhappy with his team's performance, says the key to Sunday's loss was a failure to communicate. "Our guys just didn't communicate whose guy was who and they scored to make it two one. And then we took a very stupid penalty that cost us a third goal which cost us the hockey game," he reports.
The recent extended road series was less than a success, but at least everyone emerged healthy, Garret points out. "It took us 15 games to finally play with our full roster and we're 0-3 with our full roster," he comments.
Garret reports that the Harvest won't be attending the Mac's Tournament in Calgary this season as a result of the weekend losses which left the team out of contention. He points out the last two years the team qualified for the Mac's, the Harvest had horrible Novembers, Decembers and Januaries. "Hopefully we can turn that around," he says.
Garret suggests that he saw a lot of positives over the weekend but also notes that it's the some of the letdowns and decisions on the ice that are costing the team hockey games.
He admits the Generals are a better team on paper. "But you don't play the game on paper. You play it on a sheet of ice," he declares. "We have to be flawless to beat a team like this and we weren't this weekend," Garret closes.
