In the fall, Ski-Doo invited the Yorkton Sno-Riders to participate in its third million dollar club support program. Each member of a local family of legal age to operate a snowmobile in the province could participate in the program. For each Sno-Rider member who completed a certificate and dropped it off at King's Sport by November 20, 2010 qualified the club to receive $10 per certificate up to a maximum of $1500.

At the recent Sno-Rider's general meeting, Paul Smolinski from King's Sport and Leisure announced the Sno-Riders qualified by registering the maximum number of member certificates and awarding the club $1500. In addition, one club in Western Canada, which includes the three prairie provinces, B.C. and the two northern territories, having obtained both the maximum amount of $1500 and a minimum of 75 per cent participation rate, would also be eligible for the 2011 Ski-Doo MX Z TNT 600 Ace sled for use for their own fund raising purposes. The club is very appreciative of the acknowledgement and the substantial reward for all the memberships collected in the fall, says Popowich.

Smolinski was also excited to announce the Sno-Riders were awarded a brand new Ski-Doo TNT snowmobile. The Yorkton Sno-Riders benefitted to the tune of $5,250 plus the sled from the Bombardier promotion over the past three years, he notes.

While Ski-Doo offered the program, it was the Yorkton Sno-Riders Club that took the ball and really ran with it, says Smolinski. "Not only did they reach the maximum payout literally in each of the three years of $1,500 each year, but they also used it to promote the club and to increase membership," he adds, pointing out the club registered the highest membership in the club's history. Smolinski believes the Ski-Doo promotion had a definite role to play in encouraging people to become involved in the club renew their memberships or take out new memberships.

The Sno-Riders and their members saw a great program and were able to leverage it to a tremendous financial benefit which, in turn results in better trails, better riding for everybody," he states.

The program helped the club to jump start the current season by raising the club membership early in the season. "We had volunteers ready to help in fundraising, trail marking and stuff like that," Popowich says. The $10 for each membership certificate completed was a bonus, he adds. Winning the snowmobile was the icing on the cake, he continues.

The Sno-Riders thank all the members who came down to King's Sport and Leisure to complete their certificates before the deadline.

"Thank-you also to Paul and his staff of King's Sport and Leisure for helping us qualify for the $1500 and the new Ski-Doo Snowmobile. Their commitment to helping the Sno-Riders was amazing," says club president Jason Popowich.

Popowich also thanks membership chairperson Terry Seib and past chair person Larry Wilson for sending the membership renewal letters in the mail this year and the last three years this program has been offered.

Finally, Popowich thanks Bombardier for providing such a fantastic support program which offers snowmobile clubs across the country with funding to build and improve the quality and safety of snowmobile trails. In the last two months the club has had repairs in excess of $20,000 to both our groomers and this program could not have come at a better time to help, Popowich reports.
