The Yorkton E and S Yankees travelled to Canora for a game with the Supers last Thursday.
The game saw returning veterans Roby Sharp and Jason Trost in the Yankees line-up. It was also a homecoming of sorts for Jeff Bahrey and Tom Cook, both former Supers, who now dress for the Yankees.
Bahrey and Cook formed the Yankee battery in the first four innings.
The Supers scored one run in the second inning but the Yankees tied the game in the top of the fourth when Jeremy Johnson was driven home on an Evan Wasylyniuk double.
The Yankees didn't fare as well in the bottom of the fourth allowing Canora to score four runs and take the lead five to one.
Starting pitcher Tom Cook would leave the mound after earning two strike-outs while giving up six walks and only two hits in his four innings of work.
Jeremy Johnson pitched the final two innings, striking out three while giving up only one walk and no hits.
The Yankees rallied a valiant come back in the sixth and seventh innings scoring once in the sixth and twice in the seventh. However they fell short by one run as Canora took the game five to four.
Yankee runs were scored by Tom Cook with two and Jeff Bahrey and Jeremy Johnson with one each.
Johnson had one RBI and two hits while Cook and Roby Sharp had one RBI and one hit each. Completing the Yankees hits were Jason Trost and Jeff Bahrey with one single each.
The Yorkton E and S Yankees travelled to Swan River to meet the Swan River Reds for a Sunday afternoon double-header. Game one saw the Yankees pull out a twenty to nothing win over the Reds on a complete game, two hit shutout, by starting pitcher Matt Totte who also struck out ten of the twenty-six Reds batters he faced.
The Reds were in the game until the fifth inning when the Yankees broke the game open by sending sixteen batters to the plate and scoring ten runs to lead fifteen to nothing. The Yankees completed their scoring by adding five more runs in the seventh inning.
Bryce Pasloski had three walks, two hits and three runs scored to go along with five RBI's while Mackenzie Unyi scored three runs on one hit and one walk and Jeremy Johnson scored two runs on two hits and two walks.
Totte helped his cause by scoring two runs on one hit and one walk while driving in one run.
Chris Morrison scored two runs on two hits and one walk with Derek Marshall scoring one run while driving in one run on one hit.
Tom Cook had two RBI's, four walks and two runs scored.
Rounding out the scoring was Kurt Karcha with one run on one hit and one walk, Mitchell Datema one run on one walk and Kurtis Chupa one run on one walk.
Game two also went the Yankees' way as they jumped out to an early lead. The Reds tied the game at three in the second inning.
Once again the Yankees broke the game open in the third inning by sending 16 batters to the plate and scoring ten runs to lead thirteen to three. The Yankees completed their scoring with one in the fourth inning, two in the sixth and one in the seventh. Final score was 17-8 in favor of the Yankees.
Starting pitcher Derek Marshall earned the win, striking out three batters while giving up eight hits, six runs and only one base on balls.
Johnson pitched the final three innings striking out two batters and giving up two runs on two hits and one walk. Leading the scoring for the Yankees was Unyi with five runs on five hits and two RBI's, Karcha with three runs on four hits and two RB's, Kurtis Chupa with three runs on three hits, one walk and two RBI's, Johnson with two runs on two hits, two walks and one RBI, Chris Morrison two runs on one hit, one walk and one RBI, Wasylyniuk one run on one hit and two RBI's, Tom Cook one run on one hit and one RBI and Mitchell Datema one run on one hit.
The next action for the Yankees is Thursday, June 2 when they meet the Parkland Padres at Jubilee Park.
