The Yorkton Wildlife Federation will host its annual awards banquet and dance Saturday, March 3 at St. Mary's Cultural Centre. In addition to the delicious banquet prepared and served by St. Mary's staff, the event will include the annual awards for hunting, fishing and photography from the past year. Following the awards presentations, and program, the YWF dance will take place. Additional activities include various fund raising raffles and auctions. Some lucky guests will also claim various draw prizes as well as the door prize.
The YWF has been a major contributor to the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) which is the largest conservation organization per capita in the world. Proceeds of the event will go toward the support of many SWF ongoing projects. Projects funded included the Habitat Trust, Conservation School, local fisheries programs, and the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
YWF president Heath Dreger says this year there will not be a keynote or guest speaker in order to reduce costs.
Tickets for the banquet and awards night, available at Yorkton Home Hardware and Bird Dog Archery are $45 for the banquet and dance. Corporate tables entitle the purchaser or purchasers to a reserved table for eight with complimentary wine, an advertisement and acknowledgement in the evening program and presentation, an acknowledgement in the spring newsletter and 25 Deer Bucks, $25 gift certificates to be used for the silent auction.
