SASKATOON—Accurate determination of the number of wheat heads (the grain-bearing tip) in a field is vital for estimating yields in wheat crops, but the usual method—manual counting from digital images—is a long and tedious job.

Warm, dry conditions continued this week which allowed crop development and maturation to progress and farmers in all regions of the province to make some harvest headway.

Recently the Norquay 4-H Bin Busters toured various crop plots as part of their club activities. The 2020 crop tour saw 12 members from Norquay, Pelly, Sturgis and Canora participate.
