RCMP Report: Escalation of bar disagreement leads to arrest

Police were dispatched to a disturbance complaint in Preeceville where an incident at the bar between two males led to a continuation of an argument at a residence. Police arrested one of the males on scene.

CANORA - The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 47 calls from Aug. 3 to 10, some of which included: two 911 Act calls, one break-and-enter, one breach of peace, one Coroners Act call, two disturbing the peace, one failure to comply with conditions, four false alarms, one fraud, two Mental Health Act calls, six mischiefs, four other provincial calls, one suspicious person, two thefts, one traffic collision, 15 traffic offenses, one uttering threats, and two prisoners.

Graffiti attack

On Aug. 4, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report of graffiti on a business in Canora.

Argument leads to break-and-enter

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Aug. 5 to a disturbance complaint in Preeceville.  Police attended and learned an incident earlier in the evening at the bar between two males led to a continuation of an argument at a residence. Police arrested one of the males on scene and he has been charged with break-and-enter and uttering threats.

Bear family visit

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a bear with two cubs on a property in the RM of Good Lake on Aug. 6. Police made a patrol but the bears had already left the area.

Break-in attempt

On Aug. 7, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a break-and-enter attempt to a business in Main Street in Canora. Police continue to investigate.

Knife threats

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report on Aug. 7 that a male youth in Canora had been using a knife to threaten others. Police continue to investigate.

False theft report

A male contacted the Canora/Sturgis RCMP to report theft of medication on Aug. 8. Police investigated the theft and determined the report was fraudulent.

Bad day for impaired driver

On Aug. 9, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP stopped a vehicle in the RM of Good Lake. The driver was found to be intoxicated and arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver later failed to provide proper breath samples and was subsequently charged with failure or refusal to comply with an alcohol demand.
