Canola plots and corn maze summer projects for Preeceville

The Preeceville Arena board created a fun way to generate funds that will be utilized for up-keep and maintenance of the arena.

The Preeceville Arena board created a fun way to generate funds that will be utilized for up-keep and maintenance of the arena. The board entered into an agreement with Maple Farm Equipment, Richardson Pioneer, Bayer Crop Science and other sponsors to help seed and maintain a canola field.

The canola test plots, located a half mile west of Preeceville, were seeded on May 18 with the assistance of Maple Farm Equipment. Richardson Pioneer and Bayer Crop Science aided in the project.

The arena board also seeded a corn field on June 1, east of the town, located behind Maple Farm Equipment.

"This will be the first time we have tried a corn maze project located by Maple Farm Equipment," said Andrea Tonn.

"This project is to encourage and promote fun and recreation as a family or individually. This is a new idea for this area and we are hoping to provide great family fun,"

Contributing to the corn maze were Corwin Tonn and Tonn Farms for preparation of land and seeding of the corn; Maple Farm Equipment, Friendly Acres Farm for donation of corn seed; Pioneer Hybrids; Dekalb company for seed donation, and Reed Balawder, who will be working on the maze pattern.
