The Town of Preeceville recreation department has been working hard to keep the summer fun activities rolling for all ages.

The rock wall offered many challenges of many difficulties on May 24 at the Preeceville Skating Rink grounds. The serving of free hotdogs was followed by an evening of “Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Rollerblading and operating scooters, as well as ball hockey were included activities.

“The Children’s Summer Solstice Event will be held on June 24 at the Preeceville Sports grounds,” said Andrea Tonn, recreation director. “There are many activities this year, including the rock climbing wall, a giant “slip-and-slide” play structure, fire truck rides, beach volleyball, games and many other activities.

“These activities are being held in conjunction with the hospital fundraising appreciation barbecue, so everyone is welcome.

“Good news for people wanting to practice and to those wanting to learn about the game of golf,” she said. The golf driving range at Annie Laurie Lake will be opening soon. Buckets of balls will be available for rent from Midtown during regular business hours. The price is $5 a bucket.

The Town of Preeceville will be holding the swimming lesson program for 2016 at Annie Laurie Lake, she said. Swimming lessons are expected to be held in July. Persons interested are asked to watch the newspaper and the community sign for registration dates.

“The Preeceville recreation board is very pleased to announce that the Preeceville and surrounding community will now be home to a local corn maze,” she said.

“This project is weather dependent and details will be released once they become available.

“We look forward to this fun family activity later in the season,” said Tonn.
