Norquay School welcomes new school year with barbecue

A welcome-back barbecue was hosted for the students, parents, and general populace of Norquay by the Norquay School.

NORQUAY — A welcome-back barbecue was hosted for the students, parents, and general populace of Norquay on the 8th of September by the Norquay School in celebration of the new school year.

The barbecue included various outdoor activities: indoor games, a 50/50 raffle, and Norquay School shirts and hats among other merchandise. The event brought out a large crowd for the burgers, hot dogs, activities and community spirit.

Some of the activities included playdough sculpting with Mrs. Davis, computer lab games with Mr. G, kickball with Mr. R, reading with Mrs. Turta, colour art with Ms. Heskin, and team challenges with Mr. Davis.

The 50/50 raffle proceeds went towards the local SRC, and the barbecue was a team effort between the SRC, Affinity Credit Union, and a group of local volunteers including Reagan Foster, who organizes a breakfast program for the school.
