Recently I was on one of the more notable social media sites and there was a post that was drawing a lot of attention, most of it citing disgust. The post was about baking bread containing flour made from ground cockroaches.

The Canora Supers and The Roblin Stars of the South East Senior Baseball League (SESBL) met “in the middle” on June 16 to bring some fast-paced baseball action to Kamsack.

The last game of the season for the Town of Kamsack soccer program was on June 19 at the Victoria School soccer field. After the conclusion of the game, each player was presented with a medal and was treated to cookies and juice.

In what they described as “quite an honour”, Jordan and Jennifer Lindgren of Norquay were named the winners of the Saskatchewan Outstanding Young Farmer award on June 21 at the Western Canada Farm Progress Show in Regina.

The Kamsack Power House Museum held a successful annual season opening event on May 20 which was “very well attended” according to organizers. The pancake breakfast kicked off the schedule at 9 a.m.

The Norquay Class of 2018, which is comprised of 17 students, celebrated on June 8 at their graduation. The graduation program started at 1:30 p.m.

Twenty-seven athletes participated in the peewee/bantam football program for Grades 5 to 8 this spring. The Spartan football team began practicing during the last week of April until the middle of June.

At the regular council meetings on May 14, 28 and June 11 council dealt with issues related to asphalt shingle disposal, nuisance orders for designated properties and a water well out of commission.

Three local artists along with numerous other artists from Yorkton and East Central Saskatchewan were featured at the Godfrey Dean Gallery in Yorkton on June 3 for an artist's reception.

Kamsack’s nine-hole Disc Golf Course was ready for use in mid-July of last year, created by public works staff with funds from Kev Sumner’s recreation budget.
