For her 32 year career, Irene Lyons was a fixture of Columbia School, often followed by a crowd of children as she worked in the library, the canteen or fulfilling other roles within the school.

Monica Bornyk sat at a table in the Yorkton Public Library. She was seated next to the community pARTner’s gallery. A man emerged from the room and saw Bornyk. “It’s fantastic,” he said. She thanked him and they talked about her techniques and tools.

As a cancer radiation therapist, Kelly Patterson endured a lot of stress. After a long day of work, he would come home, brew a hot cup of coffee, and start drawing. He just doodled on paper to clear his mind. It was a relaxation technique.

From September 17-October 8, Dr. Brass is working hard to collect donations for improving our school library through the Indigo Love of Reading Adopt A School campaign.

Local drivers show talent in Saskatoon event

Recent data says Saskatchewan students are graduating high school at the highest rate in 20 years. A report from the Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA) says the provincial rate for high school graduates has risen.

One Yorkton product is making quite a name for himself in the WHL. Turner Ottenbreit was named as captain for the Seattle Thunderbirds last week. This was after spending time training with an NHL team.

While I am one of those people who would like to see mid-November come and go before Christmas creeps into everything, the early arrival of more toys in stores in fall in preparation for the gift-giving season. I very much remain a kid at heart.
