Saskatchewan's credit unions, including Cornerstone in Yorkton, will be accepting donations to support the Red Cross's earthquake relief effort in Japan until April 15
"It's something that we've done in the past when there have been disaster situations like this," says Lori Walsh, VP of marketing at Cornerstone Credit Union. "Because there are credit unions in so many communities in Saskatchewan, we have worked with the Red Cross to become a kind of depot or collection point to help them in collecting donations."
Donations will be accepted in the form of cash, cheque, or money order. Cheques/money orders should be made payable to the Canadian Red Cross and earmarked for the Japan Earthquake / Asia Pacific Tsunami fund.
A temporary receipt will be issued immediately to donors until an official receipt from the Red Cross arrives through the mail.
All credit unions in Saskatchewan are accepting donations from March 15 through April 15.
