The City of Yorkton has entered into an agreement with the Yorkton Terriers Booster Club to help with a major fundraising effort for the junior hockey team.
In February Administration produced a report for Council, "recommending that the City enter into a three year lease with the Yorkton Terriers Junior Hockey Booster Club for the purpose of fundraising," explained City Manager David Putz at the regular meeting of Council Monday.
"This land was farmed in 2012 and the Terriers were able to raise funds by entering into a sharecropping agreement with a local farmer, as well as seed and fertilize suppliers."
Putz said the agreement will cover three years.
"This lease provides for: One annual payment of $1.00 by the Yorkton Terrier Junior Hockey Booster Club Inc. and subject to a resolution of Council providing for an annual grant in lieu for a value equal to the remaining rental amount of $2,369.00 in each of 2012, 2013 and 2014," he said.
