The City of Yorkton will continue to support three local organizations through the donation of agricultural land use.
“Historically, arable lands … have been donated to the following local organizations for their use to generate revenue in support of their operations or to provide venues for agricultural research projects, all for the betterment of the City,” explained Terrence Schneider, Director of Legislation and Procedures, with the City at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday.
The organizations are;
• The Health Foundation of East Central Saskatchewan Inc.
• The Yorkton Terrier Junior Hockey Booster Club Inc.
• Parkland College
The donation is significant, noted Schneider.
“Based on local cultivated hay land lease rates the City will be donating approximately $42,000.00 of foregone lease revenue to these organizations annually for the years 2018 through 2021,” he said.
Council was unanimous in supporting the three year donation.
