Morris Industries Ltd., a Saskatchewan founded and based business since 1929, has responded to the needs of families with sick children in Saskatchewan. Morris has made a $150,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan Capital Fund.
This will go a long way towards ensuring that all families seeking medical support for an ill child have access to a warm and safe atmosphere where families can also support other families in similar situations.
"While children receive medical attention, Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon is a home away from home, especially for out-of-town families," said Casey Davis, chief executive officer, Morris Industries. "Making this monetary contribution is part of our company's social responsibility in the greater community. We invite everyone to support the important work of Ronald McDonald House by making a donation and supporting the organization's many upcoming events."
Donations to the Capital Fund will help ensure that Ronald McDonald House will never have to turn away any Saskatchewan family in need. The 30,000 square foot addition will add 18 guest rooms (bringing the total to 31), laundry facilities, a computer room, maternal baby care rooms, play areas for siblings, expanded kitchen facilities and family gathering areas. Project completion is expected by 2014.
"We are grateful to Morris Industries for their contribution in helping to make families' lives a little easier during difficult times," said RMHS executive director Tammy Forrester.
The Saskatoon House is one of 14 operating Ronald McDonald Houses in Canada and the only one in Saskatchewan. Built in 1985, the Saskatchewan House has helped over 16,500 families since opening its doors.
