The driver of a car that collided head-on with a tractor-trailer hauling fuel on Queen Street Wednesday morning had to be extracted by firefighters using the jaws of life.

The man was immediately transported to Yorkton hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Sgt. Rob Laurent of the Yorkton municipal RCMP said neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the accident.

"The car, it appears, may have hit some ice and swerved into the truck," he said.

Deputy Fire Chief Greg Litvanyi said the semi had two full tankers of gasoline. There were no leaks and no fire.

No other details are being released at this time.
