More charges have been laid in a case this newspaper reported on last week ("RCMP Crime Briefs," Yorkton This Week, April 30, 2014) in which Sean Carson of Melville allegedly led police on a wild car chase involving a stolen ATV on April 26.
On the night of April 28, RCMP members from the Melville/Ituna detachment aided by Yorkton Police Dog Services executed a warrant to search Carson's residence where they found 65 pounds of marijuana, materials for the production of cannabis resin and a set of brass knuckles.
Carson and two women, who police found at the residence, have been charged with possession of marijuana over 30 grams and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Carson also faces one count of production of cannabis resin.
Clorice Abbott of Melville and Candice Kreps of Regina, who also faces a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon related to the brass knuckles were released on a promise to appear in Melville court June 9.
Kreps was also scheduled to appear in Yorkton court May 5 on one assault charge and six counts of theft. That hearing was adjourned until June 2.
Carson remains in custody on the original charges of possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and mischief over $5,000 after he was remanded in Yorkton court April 29.
He is scheduled to appear again May 13 to address all the charges levied against him so far. Cpl. G.A. Riffel, operations NCO of the Melville/Ituna detachment said the investigation is ongoing.
