Dubuc and surrounding community were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of three year old Dylan Chopping. Dylan perished in a house fire that destroyed the farm home of his grandpa, Bruce Chopping on Thursday evening, March 21. Sympathy is extended to the Chopping Family on the tragic loss of life and their family home. Funeral Services are planned for later this week.
The United Church in Atwater will be holding one of their regular Sunday worship services in the Dubuc Worship Centre as a way of sharing their Christian faith with others. The service will be held on June 9 at 10 in the morning. Everyone is invited to attend this community gathering.
Congratulations to former Dubuc resident, Barbara Isaac (Dilayne Yanke) of Yorkton on the arrival of a new granddaughter, Isabella May Fehr. Isabella was born on March 9, 2013 to Brandy Isaac and Elden Fehr, also of Yorkton.
Good thing Mayor Horachek got home when he did Just about missed buying birthday coffee for the gang! He did make it for his big day on March 23, and treated everyone with cake as well. Word was received last week of the passing of Bob McBain on March 25th in Toronto, ON at 80 years of age. Sympathy is extended to his wife, Pat (McAlpine) McBain; his son, Cameron; and all the McAlpine family members. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane.
Get well wishes are going out to Phyllis (Ed Freed) of Yorkton who is in the hospital in Saskatoon; Stuart Cairns; Craig Stokes from Shed horn, Round Lake; and DJ Cairns; who are all recuperating at home.
The monthy community birthday party for March was held on the fourth Wednesday of the month as usual. There was a good turnout to visit and play cards. There was a delicious lunch served along with birthday cake made and decorated by one of the birthday gals, Nina Moller. As well as Nina, Melba McAlpine, Joe Kaczur, Ron McAlpine, and Sharon Clark were March birthday celebrants in attendance. We hope you all had a great birthday! The next monthly birthday party will be held on April 24. Come out and join the fun - The more, the merrier.
Jack and Ramona (Sikora) Bernie of Watrous were Easter weekend visitors with her sister, Maureen and Dennis Toth. Jack attended coffee row with Dennis on Saturday morning.
Coffee Row talk was of spring and with spring, comes garage sales. One thing led to another and soon a date had been set for the annual Flea Market at the Hut. It will be held on Sat., May 11 starting at 9 a.m. Tables will be rented out. Coffee and sandwiches will be available. As well as the goods for sale at the Hut, there will also be some family garage sales around town that day. Coffee Row will still take place that morning as usual.
A pink bootie welcome goes out to Anna Rose Bodnar and best wishes to her parents, Jennah Johnson and Jon Bodnar, of Yorkton. Anna was born on March 30 at the Yorkton Health Centre. Congratulations, Grandma and Grandpa, Debbie (Bauman) and Norman Johnson, as well as, to Anna's excited auntie, Jackie (Johnson) and Jordon Sies from Grayson and the extended Johnson relatives.
Jim Talbot celebrated his birthday at coffee row on April 2. He brought Hot Cross Buns with cheese and bought coffee for 16 coffee drinkers in attendance. Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Jim, and many more to come!
