A cabaret to raise money for a flood fund in Yorkton has been organized and the list of entertainment is a long one.

Set for Friday, Aug. 27 from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., the event already boasts 10 bands and performers, said Ken Kohlert, one of the originating organizers.

Brad Johner will kick-off the show.

The rest of the entertainment already confirmed have a Yorkton-area connection, including Evan Chambers & The Third Alarm from Regina, Samara Yung, Rayanne Ottenbreit, this year's GX94 Talent Search winner and the Steve Gibson Band which won the 2010 Battle of the Bands at this year's Yorkton Exhibition.

The rest of the line-up includes Wired By Fire, Michael J & The Blue Woods, Shameless, and Search Party.

In addition to the music, Kohlert said a giant silent auction is planned. The list of items includes a Jordan Matechuk football jersey, a package of CBC items, work from artists and donations from businesses.

Anyone wishing to donate items to the auction can contact Judith Stewart at 783-6638.

Tickets for the event are only $15 each, or a family of four can attend for $40.

Kohlert said all the proceeds will go to organizations involved as "first on-site providers" of flood relief in the city as a result of the July 1 rains, adding the bands haven't even asked for meals or gas money.

The response for support has "been fabulous" said Kohlert. "None of these guys are asking for a cent."

It was the same when it came to getting people involved in organizing the event. He said the ad hoc committee includes "people who didn't have a drop of water and those totally flooded out."

Tickets will soon be on sale at LR Futures, Shoppers Drug Mart, Fuzztone Music, Ticket Master in the Gallagher Centre and Tourism Yorkton.
