A Yorkton youth who pleaded guilty in August to aggravated assault, theft of a purse and a number of other property offences was sentenced December 13 to 12 months probation and a six month curfew. He will also pay restitution to victims in the amount of $260.

A pre-sentence report did not make a sentencing recommendation. The defence wanted a conditional discharge, but Judge Ross Green agreed with the prosecution that the assault on an 80-year-old woman was far too serious to warrant a discharge, which would have left the youth without a criminal record.
