The Board of Education of the Good Spirit School Division has appointed its chairs and subcommittees for the school year. At its organizational meeting November 4, the Board re-elected Lois Smandych to chair the organization in 2015-2016.
Mrs. Smandych has been involved in various roles on boards over the years including Yorkdale Rural, Yorkton Regional High School, York and Good Spirit School Divisions.
DJ Cairns will serve as vice-chair. Mrs. Cairns joined the Good Spirit School Division in the fall of 2009.
The Board of Education comprises: Bryan Cottenie (Subdivision #1-Kamsack/Norquay); Christopher Balyski (Subdivision #2-Preeceville/Sturgis); Shannon Leson (Subdivision #3-Canora/Invermay); Florence Stachura (Subdivision #4-Rhein/Springside); Lois Smandych (Subdivision #5-Bredenbury/Churchbridge/Langenburg); Bob Simpson (Subdivision #6-Melville/Grayson); DJ Cairns (Subdivision #7-Esterhazy/Stockholm); Gordon Gendur, Richard Haacke and Bonnie Rushowick (Yorkton-At-Large); and, Gilda Dokuchie (Subdivision #11-Key First Nation Reserve).
The Board also set its regularly scheduled meetings to occur the third Thursday of every month with the first scheduled meeting to be held Thursday, November 26, 2015, a week later due to scheduling conflicts.
