It has been George Plews' ambition ever since he moved to Yorkton to see a Habitat for Humanity Restore in the city.
On June 23, he along with Restore manager Merv Catchuk announced the grand opening of the retail building supplies outlet will be July 3.
The store will sell new and slightly used building supplies, tools and appliances at discounted prices with all the proceeds going to building Habitat homes for deserving families.
Plews explained there are some unique features to the Yorkton Restore in its partnerships with Yorkton Transitional Homes for Youth and the Saskatchewan Abilities Council (where the Restore is located on Ball Road).
The Restore board hopes they will be able to draw from the workforce of these to organizations.
Another unique partnership is with Sunrise Health Region. Louise Belanger, a board member and Sunrise community education person explained that living conditions are a major determinant of health so Habitat for Humanity and the Restore fit perfectly with the health regions mandate of promoting healthy lifestyle.
